Advent Troparia
Make ready, O cave, for the Mother-Lamb comes, bearing Christ in her womb.
Receive Him, O manger, Who by a word released the dwellers on earth
from all lawlessness.
You shepherd abiding in the fields, bear witness to the awesome wonder.
You wise-men from Persia, offer the King your gold, frankincense, and
myrrh.
For the Lord has appeared from a Virgin Mother, and she, bending over
Him as His servant, worshipped Him as He lay in her arms, saying:
"How were you sown in me? How have You grown in me, my Redeemer and my
God?"
Skip, O hills and mountains! Dance, O prophets who spoke of God!
Clap your hands, O people and nations! The Salvation and Enlightenment
of all draws near.
He comes to be born in the city of Bethlehem. The Rich One becomes
poor, making poor those who have grown rich in evil.
God is revealed as a mortal man, Born without change to His divinity
of a Virgin who has not known a man.
Let us praise Him in song, for He has been glorified!
What shall we offer You, O Christ, Who for our sake has appeared on
the earth as a man?
Every creature which You have made offers You thanks.
The angels offer You a song. The heavens, their star.
The wise-men, their gifts. The shepherds, their wonder.
The earth, its cave. The wilderness, the manger.
And we offer You a Virgin Mother.
O pre-eternal God, have mercy on us!
Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill toward mankind!
