Octave of Easter Sunday Morning Prayer

Lord, open our lips.
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

HYMN

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!
Now above the sky he's King, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Praise to God the Father sing, Alleluia.
Praise to God the Son our King, Alleluia.
Praise to God the Spirit be, Alleluia.
Now and through eternity, Alleluia.

SALMODY

Antiphon 1: The splendor of Christ risen from the dead has shone on the people redeemed by his blood, alleluia.
Psalm 63:2-9

O God, you are my God, for you I long; *
for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you *
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary *
to see your strength and your glory.

For your love is better than life, *
my lips will speak your praise.
So I will bless you all my life, *
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet, *
my mouth shall praise you with joy.

On my bed I remember you. *
On you I muse through the night
for you have been my help; *
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings to you; *
your right hand holds me fast.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Antiphon 1: The splendor of Christ risen from the dead has shone on the people redeemed by his blood, alleluia.

Antiphon3 :Alleluia, the Lord is risen as he promised, alleluia.

Psalm 149

Sing a new song to the Lord, *
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel rejoice in its maker, *
let Zion’s sons exult in their king.
Let them praise his name with dancing *
and make music with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord takes delight in his people. *
He crowns the poor with salvation.
Let the faithful rejoice in their glory, *
shout for joy and take their rest.
Let the praise of God be on their lips *
and a two-edged sword in their hand,

to deal out vengeance to the nations *
and punishment on all the peoples;
to bind their kings in chains *
and their nobles in fetters of iron;
to carry out the sentence pre-ordained; *
this honor is for all his faithful.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Antiphon3 :Alleluia, the Lord is risen as he promised, alleluia.

READING
God raised up Jesus on the third day and granted that he be seen, not by all, but only by such witnesses as had been chosen beforehand by God - by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people and bear witness that he is the one set apart by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets testify, saying that everyone who believes in him has forgiveness of sins through his name. - Acts 10:40b-43

In place of the responsory, the following is said:

This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it, alleluia.

BENEDICTUS (Canticle of Zechariah)
Antiphon With your hand, touch the mark of the nails; doubt no longer, but believe, alleluia.

INTERCESSIONS

God the almighty Father raised Jesus as the firstborn from the dead, and made him our Savior.  Let us call upon him, saying:
Give us, Lord, the glory of your Son.

All-holy Father, you brought your beloved Son Jesus from the darkness of death into the splendor of your glory,
 - bring us also into your marvelous light.

You have given us faith to save us,
 - may we live by the faith of our baptism.

You command us to seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at your right hand,
 - do not let us be deceived by the allurements of sin.

May our life, hidden with Christ in you, our Father, shine before the world,
 - foreshadowing a new heaven and a new earth.

Our Father...

PRAYER

God of mercy,
you wash away our sins in water,
you give us new birth in the Spirit,
and redeem us in the blood of Christ.
As we celebrate Christ's resurrection
increase our awareness of these blessings,
and renew your gift of life within us.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
