SEQUENCE          Victimæ paschali laudes

Christians, to the Paschal victim
Offer your thankful praises!

A Lamb the sheep redeemeth:
Christ, who only is sinless,
Reconcileth sinners to the Father.

Death and life have contended
in that combat stupendous:
the Prince of life, who died,
reigns immortal.

Speak, Mary, declaring
what thou sawest, wayfaring:
"The tomb of Christ, who is living,
the glory of Jesus' resurrection;

"Bright angels attesting,
the shroud and napkin resting.
"Yea, Christ my hope is arisen;
to Galilee he goes before you."

Christ indeed
from death is risen,
our new life obtaining;
have mercy, victor King,
ever reigning!
Amen. Alleluia!

Victimae paschali laudes
immolent Christiani.

Agnus redemit oves:
Christus innocens Patri
reconciliavit peccatores.

Mors et vita duello
conflixere mirando:
dux vitae mortuus,
regnat vivus.

Dic nobis Maria,
quid vidisti in via?
Sepulcrum Christi viventis,
et gloriam vidi resurgentis:

Angelicos testes,
sudarium, et vestes.
Surrexit Christus spes mea:
praecedet suos in Galilaeam.

Scimus Christum
surrexisse
a mortuis vere:
tu nobis, victor Rex,
miserere.
Amen. Alleluia!

ALLELUIA:

GOSPEL:
Pascha nostrum immolátus est Christus; ítaque festa celebrémus in Dómino.
Christ, our Paschal lamb, has been sacrificed;
let us then feast with joy in the Lord. - Cf. 1 Cor. 5:7b-8a

John 20:1-9
At an afternoon or evening Mass, another Gospel may be read: Luke 24:13-35, "Stay with us since it is almost evening." The Gospel from the Easter Vigil may also be read in its place at any time of the day.

CREDO

However, in Easter Sunday Masses which are celebrated with a congregation, the rite of the renewal of baptismal promises may take place after the Homily, according to the text used at the Easter Vigil. In that case the Creed is omitted.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
Exultant with paschal gladness, O Lord,
we offer the sacrifice
by which your Church
is wondrously reborn and nourished.
Through Christ our Lord.

PREFACE I OF EASTER          The Paschal Mystery

When the Roman Canon is used, the proper forms of the Communicantes (In communion with those) and Hanc igitur (Therefore, Lord, we pray) are said.

therefore let us keep the feast with the unleavened bread

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Look upon your Church, O God,
with unfailing love and favor,
so that, renewed by the paschal mysteries,
she may come to the glory of the resurrection.
Through Christ our Lord.

To impart the blessing at the end of Mass, the Priest may appropriately use the formula of Solemn Blessing for the Mass of the Easter Vigil, as follows:

SOLEMN BLESSING
May almighty God bless you
through today's Easter Solemnity
and, in his compassion,
defend you from every assault of sin.

R. Amen.

And may he, who restores you to eternal life
in the Resurrection of his Only Begotten,
endow you with the prize of immortality.

R. Amen.

Now that the days of the Lord's Passion have drawn to a close,
may you who celebrate the gladness of the Paschal Feast
come with Christ's help, and exulting in spirit,
to those feasts that are celebrated in eternal joy.

R. Amen.

And may the blessing of almighty God,
the Father, and the Son, † and the Holy Spirit,
come down on you and remain with you for ever.

R. Amen.

For the dismissal of the people, there is sung or said:

Go forth, the Mass is ended, alleluia, alleluia.

Or:

Go in peace, alleluia, alleluia.

R. Thanks be to God, alleluia, alleluia.
