Vigil for the Eve of the Baptism of Our Lord

From the Book of Occasional Services

When a Vigil of the Baptism of the Lord is observed, it begins with the Service of Light, page 109 of the Book of Common Prayer (substituting, if desired, the Gloria in excelsis for the Phos Hilaron), and continues with the Salutation and Collect of the Day. Three or more lessons are before the Gospel, each followed by a period of silence and Psalm, Canticle or hymn. Holy Baptism or Confirmation (beginning with the Presentation of the Candidates), or the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, Prayer Book page 292, follows the Sermon.
