READING
Hebrews 2:9-10
We see Jesus "crowned with glory and honor" because he suffered death, he who "for a little while" was made "lower than the angels," that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children to glory, should make the leader to their salvation perfect through suffering.
RESPONSORY
BENEDICTUS (Canticle of Zechariah)
Antiphon on Benedictus:
Jesus said to the chief priests and the crowds of the Jews: Whoever comes from God hears the word of God. You will not listen because you do not come from God.
INTERCESSIONS
Christ our Lord came among us as the light of the world, that we might walk in his light, and not in the darkness of death. Let us praise him and cry out to him:
Let your word be a lamp to guide us.
God of mercy, help us today to grow in your likeness,
- that we who sinned in Adam may rise again in Christ.
Let your word be a lamp to guide us,
- that we may live the truth and grow always in your love.
Teach us to be faithful in seeking the common good for your sake,
- that your light may shine on the whole human family by means of your Church.
Touch our hearts to seek your friendship more and more,
- and to make amends for our sins against your wisdom and goodness.
Our Father...
Lord,
come to us;
free us from the stain of our sins.
Help us to remain faithful to a holy way of life,
and guide us to the inheritance you have promised.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 4:14-15
Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin.
Create in me a clean heart, O God.
- Renew in me a steadfast spirit.
SEXT (Midday)
Antiphon: As I live, says the Lord, I do not wish the sinner to die, but to turn back to me and live.
Reading
Hebrews 7:26-27
It was fitting that we should have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, higher than the heavens. He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did that once for all when he offered himself.
Turn away your face from my sins.
- Blot out all my guilt.
NONES (Midafternoon)
Antiphon: Armed with God's justice and power, let us prove ourselves through patient endurance.
Reading
Hebrews 9:11-12
When Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come to be, passing through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, that is, not belonging to this creation, he entered once for all into the sanctuary, not with the blood of goats and calves but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.
My sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit.
- A humble contrite heart, O God, you will not spurn.
Jesus suffered outside the gate, to consecrate the people by his own blood. Let us then go to him outside the camp, bearing the reproach that he bore. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the one that is to come. Through him then let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
RESPONSORY
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
I make my prayer for mercy;
Glory to the Father to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy.
MAGNIFICAT (Canticle of Mary)
Antiphon on Magnificat:
You are not yet fifty years old; how can you have seen Abraham? In very truth I tell you, before Abraham was, I AM.
INTERCESSIONS
Christ the Lord gave us a new commandment, of love for each other. Let us pray to him:
Lord, build up your people in love.
Good Master, teach us to love you in our neighbor,
- and in serving them to serve you.
On the cross you asked pardon for your executioners,
- give us strength to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.
Through the mystery of your body and blood, deepen our love, our perseverance and our trust,
- strengthen the weak, console the sorrowful, and give hope to the dying.
Light of the world, you gave light to the man born blind when he had washed in the pool of Siloam,
- enlighten catechumens through the water of baptism and the word of life.
Give to the dead the perfect joy of your eternal love,
- and number us also among your chosen ones.
Our Father...
PRAYERLord,
come to us;
free us from the stain of our sins.
Help us to remain faithful to a holy way of life,
and guide us to the inheritance you have promised.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
