EPIPHANY
Daytime Prayer

______

God, come to my assistance.
- Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,

world without end. Amen. Alleluia.

TERCE

Antiphon: This mystery, which has been hidden through all ages and from all generations, is revealed to us today.

Psalms of the Day

READING                            Revelation 15:4
Who will not fear you, Lord,
  or glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
  All the nations will come
  and worship before you.

He was seen on the earth;
- he was a man among men.

COLLECT
O God, who on this day
revealed your Only Begotten Son to the nations
by the guidance of a star,
grant in your mercy, that we, who know you already by faith,
may be brought to behold the beauty of your sublime glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Let us praise the Lord.
- And give him thanks.

SEXT

Antiphon: Christ Jesus has come, bringing the joyful news: peace to those who were far off; peace to those who are near.

Psalms of the Day

READING                            Isaiah 49:6
  The Lord said to me:
It is too little for you to be my servant,
  to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
  and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
  that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

All nations will see the glory of your holy One;
- all the kings of the earth will acknowledge your majesty.

NONE

Antiphon: I have raised you up as a light for all the nations; through you my salvation will be proclaimed to the ends of the earth.

Psalms of the Day

READING                            Zechariah 2:15
Many nations shall join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will dwell among you, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

All you peoples, praise our God;
- sing to the glory of his name.

At one of the hours, the psalms are said as below. At the other hours, the complementary psalms are used.

PSALMODY

Psalm 47

All peoples, clap your hands,
cry to God with shouts of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, we must fear,
great king over all the earth.

He subdues peoples under us
and nations under our feet.
Our inheritance, our glory, is from him,
given to Jacob out of love.

God goes up with shouts of joy;
the Lord goes up with trumpet blast.
Sing praise for God, sing praise,
sing praise to our king, sing praise.

God is king of all the earth,
sing praise with all your skill.
God is king over the nations;
God reigns on his holy throne.

The princes of the people are assembled
with the people of Abraham's God.
The rulers of the earth belong to God,
to God who reigns over all.

Psalm 86:1-10

Turn your ear, O Lord, and give answer
for I am poor and needy.
Preserve my life, for I am faithful;
save the servant who trusts in you.

You are my God, have mercy on me, Lord,
for I cry to you all the day long.
Give joy to your servant, O Lord,
for to you I lift up my soul.

O Lord, you are good and forgiving,
full of love to all who call.
Give heed, O Lord, to my prayer
and attend to the sound of my voice.

In the day of distress I will call
and surely you will reply.
Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord;
nor work to compare with yours.

All the nations shall come to adore you
and glorify your name, O Lord:
for you are great and do marvelous deeds,
you who alone are God.

Psalm 98

Sing a new song to the Lord
for he has worked wonders.
His right hand, his holy arm
have brought salvation.

The Lord has made known his salvation;
has shown his justice to the nations.
He has remembered his truth and love
for the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
ring out your joy.

Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp
with the sound of music.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
acclaim the King, the Lord.

Let the sea and all within it, thunder;
the world, and all its peoples.
Let the rivers clap their hands
and the hills ring out their joy

at the presence of the Lord: for he comes,
he comes to rule the earth.
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with fairness. Glory...
