Antiphons of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Alma Redemptoris Mater

From Advent until February 2, The Purification of the Virgin (or Presentation in the Temple)

Loving mother of the Redeemer,
gate of heaven, star of the sea,
assist your people who have fallen yet strive to rise again.
To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator,
Yet remained a virgin after as before.
You who received Gabriel's joyful greeting,
have pity on us poor sinners.
Alma Redemptoris Mater,
peccatorum miserere.

R. And she conceived be the Holy Spirit.

Lord, Pour your grace into our hearts, that as we have whom Incarnation of you Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, so by His cross and passions may we be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Salve, Regina

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you we cry, the children of Eve;
to you we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this land of exile.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy toward us;
lead us home at last
and show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus:
O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;
vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Almighty and everlasting God who by the co-operation of the Holy Spirit prepared the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother Mary to become a habitation fit for thy Son: grant that as we rejoice in her commemoration, we may be delivered by her loving intercession from our present evils and from eternal death. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Ave Maria gratia plena
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Fructus ventris tui Jesus
Sancta Maria
Mater Dei ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen
