Feast of Sts. Simon and Jude
Apostles
October 28

Mass

Entrance Song
The Lord chose these holy men for their unfeigned love, and gave them eternal glory.

Opening Prayer
Father,
you revealed yourself to us
through the preaching of your apostles Simon and Jude.
By their prayers,
give your Church continued growth
and increase the number of those who believe in you.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

First Reading
Ephesians 2:19-22

Brothers and sister: You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Psalm 19

R. Their message goes out through all the earth.
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day pours out the word to day,
and night to night imparts knowledge.
R. Their message goes out through all the earth.
Not a word nor a discourse
whose voice is not heard;
Through all the earth their voice resounds,
and to the ends of the world, their message.
R. Their message goes out through all the earth.

Gospel Acclamation.
Alleluia, Alleluia.
We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord; / the glorious company of Apostles praise you.
Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel Reading
Luke 6:12-19

Jesus went up to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles; Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all.

Preface over the Gifts

of your apostles Simon and Jude.
Accept our gifts

We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.

Preface of the Apostles I

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks.

You are the eternal Shepherd
who never leaves his flock untended.
Through the apostles
you watch over us and protect us always.
You made them shepherds of the flock
to share in the work of your Son,
and from their place in heaven they guide us still.

And so, with all the choirs of angels in heaven
we proclaim your slory
and join in their unending hymn of praise.  Holy...

Preface of the Apostles II

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks.

You founded your Church on the apostles
to stand firm forever
as the sign on earth of your infinite holiness
and as the living Gospel for all to hear.

With steadfast love
we sing your unending praise:
we join with the hosts of heaven
in their triumphant song:  Holy...

Communion Antiphon
If anyone loves me, he will hold to my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. (Jn 14:23)

Prayer After Communion
Father,
in your Spirit we pray:
may the sacrament we receive today
keep us in your loving care
as we honor the death of Saints Simon and Jude.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
